Dr. Sampath Deegalla

Senior Lecturer

Dr. Sampath Deegalla is a computer engineering graduate with over 20 years of experience in research, teaching, and administration. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSc Eng) in Computer Engineering from the University of Peradeniya and furthered his studies in Stockholm, Sweden, where he obtained a Licentiate of Philosophy (PhLic) and a Doctorate (PhD) in Computer and Systems Sciences. Currently serving as a senior lecturer, Dr. Deegalla, who is passionate about educating both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Dr. Deegalla is an expert in Machine Learning, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence having authored over 30 scholarly publications at the national and international levels. He is a resource person for Dialog Data Academy, which provides data analytics training to the industry. He conducts postgraduate courses for M.Sc. Programmes in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology and Industrial Mathematics at the Postgraduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya.

Dr. Deegalla is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (MIEEE), USA and an associate member of the Institute of Engineers (AMIESL), Sri Lanka. He has demonstrated his commitment to staying current in his field through his participation in various professional organizations and his dedication to ongoing education.
